Give Yourself Credit

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

I used to be the person to keep blessings and good news to myself because I never wanted to be the friend to brag about all of the great things God was doing in my life. I always felt awkward talking about the positive things going on in my life because I never wanted to offend someone or make myself seem like "I had it all going on." But God recently spoke to me and told me that it's okay to be my own cheerleader.

I have downplayed myself a lot in the past few years, especially at work. When someone would commend me for going above and beyond I would always downplay the accomplishment because "I was just doing my job." But I had to realize that I am doing an amazing job and if others see that too then I also have a right to recognize my own accomplishments as we'll without feeling guilty.

As weird as it sounds, I am very awkward when it comes to accepting compliments and I'm not sure why. It could be because I'm trying to remain humble or because I don't see what I'm doing as a "big deal." But God is a big deal. God is the reason why we receive an overflow of blessings, and sometimes it has nothing to with our good deeds or our good behavior, but it's because our blessings are all for His glory.

What I'm learning is that I can still remain humble and give myself some credit! Yes, I am amazing, yes I deserved the promotion, yes I deserved the partnership, and yes I deserve all that God has for me!

We as women work so hard and we sometimes discredit ourselves but that should no longer be the narrative. OWN YOUR BLESSINGS! If people are offended by your wins then they are upset with the favor God has placed on your life and you don't deserve that type of energy in your life.

Yes, it can be hard to support others when your life looks the complete opposite but everyone's journey is different. God created your path to be different than the rest because He knows how much you can handle. Sometimes the paths God places us on are so we can grow and develop into stronger women in Christ and in our faith. Sometimes we need the extra push in order for our blessings to fully blossom.

God placed the gift of writing and research inside of me, but I needed to extra push to actually do it. He gave me a story and a testimony that isn't like anyone else's and He gave me the courage to share so that others may receive their own breakthrough. He also gave me the ability to be comfortable with stepping out of my comfort zone which has opened up so many doors for me.

So, if you have amazing things happening to you don't be afraid to share what God is doing in your life because He deserves all of the glory and honor. Don't be ashamed to let God's favor shine through in your life.
