This year is going to be YOUR year because this is the year of being INTENTIONAL. What does it mean to be intentional? Well, by definition it means, “done on purpose; deliberate.” You see, God is a very intentional God, everything he's done was deliberate! If we serve an intentional God should we not also be intentional and be deliberate with our actions, the way we speak, and the way we treat others?
“Be Intentional.”
I heard those words as I was preparing myself breakfast one Sunday. I was thinking about all of the things I've been praying for and I heard the Lord speak to me..."Be Intentional, faith without works is dead."
I knew exactly what He meant, and I couldn't help but laugh to myself and shake my head because I've been praying about so many things and not putting forth any effort. All I could say was "Wow."
I refuse to continue life praying and praying and expecting God to do it all without any action on my end. That's a one-sided relationship and God doesn't deserve that! This year, and every year to come, I plan to be INTENTIONAL about every area of my life; my health, finances, career, my goals, and my relationships.
For those who may be curious about what being intentional looks like, it looks like this:
Intentionally making time to pray. “Well Daisy, you're in ministry…aren't you always praying?” Yes, and no. Yes, I pray, but my attitude towards prayer has not always been the best. In the past, I've treated prayer like a chore when it should be a time I look forward to the most. So this year, I'm changing that!
Intentionally saying no. Whoo! That's a major one. Sometimes we say yes to things because we might feel like we're missing out or we feel guilty for saying no. But that should not be the case! The things that you want to do will still be there and those people you're saying no to will (better yet, should) understand and not treat you any type of way about doing so. Prioritize how you're honestly feeling and if you aren't feeling it then say no and keep it moving!
Intentionally seeking community. This can be tricky because we're still very much in a pandemic, but the virtual world is still popping! I know how hard it can be when you need that face-to-face interaction but instead, you get a screen. I know how frustrating it is when you need a listening ear but no one seems to pick up their phone. I know how hard or impossible it seems to seek community in a time like this, but community is so important on our walks with Christ. Be intentional about setting aside time to engage with those who you view as your community.
That's just to list a few, but being intentional can be anything! It can be as simple as doing the dishes before you go to bed. It's creating a habit so it becomes second nature. So, what are you being intentional about this week?
Can't wait to hear from you! Love you lots!
Meditate: Revelation 3:20 - "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."
