What is self-love?
Self-love is defined as regard for one's own well-being and happiness. As we continue to grow and develop in Christ he reveals to us the areas where we need more work. When we surrender those areas to God he transforms them into something beautiful.
Those areas that we keep hidden God wants to show you how beautiful those areas can be when you take the time to put forth the effort to work on those areas. That's essentially what we should be doing on a daily basis, loving ourselves more and practicing self-love.
Self-love is loving yourself unapologetically, accepting your flaws, and loving yourself no matter what!
I practice self-love by simply accepting the woman God has created me to be. I do that by loving the gifts he's placed inside of me and using those gifts to glorify him. I also practice self-love by spending time with myself. Spending time with myself allows me to regroup. It allows me to recenter myself and to be free!
What does self-love look like to you?
Here are some self-love ideas:
Buy yourself fresh flowers.
Take time for rest and relaxation.
Each night before bed write in your gratitude journal.
Start the day with two minutes of meditation.
Treat yourself.
Give yourself a day off.
Smile.
Write out 10 things that you love about yourself.
Make yourself a nice meal.
Find your happy place.
Self-love is just as important as loving others. Just as much time we give to others we should also be giving to ourselves the same amount of time.
So, I challenge you to do something FOR YOU this week! Show yourself some love, you deserve it.
Meditate on Scripture: 1 Corinthians 16:14 - And do everything with love.
